Position Description The Department of Political Science within the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Oklahoma seeks applicants for a full-time tenure-track or tenured faculty member to contribute to the department’s strengths in the public administration and public policy subfields with a starting date of August 16, 2026 and a teaching load of 2:2. The successful applicant whose scholarly record warrants appointment with tenure or on an accelerated tenure track will be appointed as an Associate Professor of Political Science while the successful early-career applicant, including ABDs, will be appointed as an Assistant Professor of Political Science. Competitive applicants will be qualified to teach the core budgeting and finance course in the Department’s Master of Public Administration (MPA) program, related courses at the undergraduate level, and other courses in their specific area of expertise. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate strong potential (at the tenure-track level) or a clear record (at the tenured level) of securing external funding to support their work. In addition, the department seeks a colleague who values collaboration, engages in multidisciplinary research while remaining grounded in the study of public administration or public policy, and exhibits a commitment to mentoring graduate students. Qualifications Required: Ph.D. in Political Science, Public Administration, Public policy, or a related field at the time the position begins in August 2026.
