Job Description

Business Development Manager – Legal Marketing Department

Location: New Jersey (Some travel required)

Reports to: Chief Marketing Officer

Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for driving business growth and enhancing brand presence? We’re seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join our dynamic Marketing Department in New Jersey. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with leadership and attorneys to shape and implement impactful marketing and business development initiatives. Please note: You need to have a strong background legal law, preferably Am Law 100/200 to be considered for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategic marketing and business development plans aligned with firm and practice group goals
  • Monitor progress and provide detailed reports on key metrics, trends, clients, and industry developments
  • Conduct competitive intelligence and maintain an experience database to inform strategy
  • Lead the coordination and development of RFP responses, proposals, and client presentations
  • Continuously enhance pitch materials, proposal processes, and ensure consistency across all firm offices
  • Track and analyze RFP/proposal outcomes and trends for improvement
  • Collaborate on new marketing collateral and initiatives that elevate the firm's visibility and positioning
  • Partner with attorneys to support individual and practice group business development efforts
  • Work with PR agency to craft compelling submissions for major legal rankings
  • Utilize CRM systems to manage contacts and support targeted outreach

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing or business development (professional services environment preferred)
  • Exceptional writing, proofreading, and editing skills
  • Strong project management, administrative, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with tools like Monitor Suite and/or Redwood Analytics is a plus
