SAGE Dining Services® is seeking a commercial designer to work on projects for the FOH and BOH for our clients, private schools and colleges around North America. You would be part of a team and a group within SAGE who work on design projects. Our best candidate will live within the Baltimore area and will work in our Home Offices in Lutherville, MD. The collaboration of the team is an essential part of our success.

If you happen to have school experience, that is great, but it is not required at all. We are looking for an experienced commercial kitchen designer who knows MEP regulations and food operations. Experience with commercial kitchen equipment is a HUGE plus, as most of our projects will be in this arena, although we have that expertise on the team.

This is a HANDS-ON drafting role where teamwork is key, but we also expect individual contributions to be of the highest expert quality and ready for immediate impact.

A positive attitude and a collaborative spirit are essential.

Final candidates will participate in a technical interview to showcase their skills and expertise.

Pay Type: $90,000.00 -$125,000.00 Salary

What you'll do:

  • Collaborate with clients to determine their design preferences, lifestyle needs, and budgetary constraints for kitchen/servery and dining hall remodels.
  • Create renderings and detailed floor plans using design software to showcase BOH design concepts.
  • Provide guidance on equipment and BOH layout for efficiency of production and service.
  • Consult with school's architect on architectural drawings and equipment list.
  • Work with the operations team to ensure accurate measurement and installation of all components of the design.
  • Conduct sales consultations with prospective clients and communicate the value of our kitchen design services and products.
  • Coordinate with SAGE interior designer on FOH plans.
  • Present detailed project proposals to clients that include design, material, and cost breakdowns.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in kitchen design to remain competitive in the market.

What you'll need:

  • 5+ years of experience in commercial kitchen design, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
  • Experience in a culinary educational setting is preferred or equivalent experience working in a high-volume commercial kitchen.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate complex design concepts to clients.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to travel nationwide up to 50% of the time.
  • Proficiency in design software including AutoCad, and Revit.
  • Experience with AutoQuotes preferred.
