Managing Director, Financial Planning, Private Banking


This position is based in Stamford, CT

Position Summary

The Managing Director of Financial Planning is a seasoned and experienced planner who is viewed as a trusted advisor to clients and valuable resource and partner to colleagues. The MD will support the Senior Managing Director of Financial Planning in providing comprehensive, sophisticated, fee-based planning analyses and recommendations to the clients of Webster Private Bank. In this Stamford, CT based role, support is provided to the SMD and other colleagues within Websters footprint with the overarching objectives of retaining and deepeningexisting relationships and the addition of new relationships.


Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed data gathering sessions - collect, review and summarize clients personal and financial information. Identify and fully understand clients concerns, goals and objectives.
  • Prepare analyses and projections including, but not limited to, cash flow, education prefunding, executive benefits analyses, philanthropic giving, gift and estate planning, etc. based on data collected and client objectives using software such as eMoney and/or Excel spreadsheets.
  • Present financial plans and analyses to clients.
  • Update financial plans to reflect changes in clients personal or financial situation as well as for changes in tax law and investment environment.
  • Address client and colleague questions and concerns as they arise.
  • Research technical issues for clients and colleagues such as complex estate planning techniques, e.g., GRATs, CRTs, etc., executive benefits considerations, e.g., Section 16(b), etc., and various tax related issues.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of tax law, regulations and investment climate.
  • Assist with the drafting and editing of quarterly financial planning newsletter.
  • Work collaboratively with Private Bank colleagues to strengthen and expand client relationships. Attend and participate in prospect and Webster colleague informational meetings.
  • Travel to various locations, within Websters footprint, to attend client/COI/prospect meetings.

Education, Experience & Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or JD a plus.
  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation required.
  • Minimum seven to ten years relevant experience.
  • Attention to detail with strong analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Excel and strong aptitude in mastering financial planning software such as eMoney.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal a must.
  • Cover letter indicating experience with providing financial planning analyses to high-net-worth individuals.

The estimated salary range for this position is $120,000 USD to $160,000 USD. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
