Job Description
Position: Electronics Technician
Primary Purpose: Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electronic systems across the district, including access control, marquees, intercom systems, AV equipment, and broadcasting systems.
Education/Certification: - GED/High School Diploma (preferred)
- Associate Degree in electronics and computer/technology or advanced trade school certification and training preferred
- Valid Texas Drivers' License; insurable by district's insurance carrier
Special Knowledge/Skills: - Ability to read and understand electronic schematic diagrams and to isolate failures in electronic systems
- Ability to set up, operate and interpret data from various electronic test equipment
- Ability to operate personal computer systems
- Ability to transform plans into a completed product
- Ability to diagnose and repair various electronic system malfunctions
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards of the electronic trade and the necessary safety precautions
Experience: Three years experience as a working electronics technician with electronic system diversity preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties: 1. Troubleshoot, repair and install electronic devices and systems.
2. Diagnose and repair issues related to access control systems.
3. Troubleshoot marquees and digital signage systems.
4. Assist in the implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for new and existing electronic systems.
5. Maintain and support campus-wide intercom and paging systems.
6. Assist with setup, maintenance and repair of district AV systems, including projectors, sound systems, and presentation equipment.
7. Maintain inventory of equipment, tools and spare parts for the electronic systems and repair facility.
8. Support district broadcasting systems (LP Sportsnet) including live-stream setups, video capture and related infrastructure.
9. Assist with district digital signage
10. Ensure calibration of electronic test equipment.
11. Maintain electronic repair records and establishes a data base for equipment failure rates.
12. Report any pertinent data regarding the operational effectiveness of electronic systems.
13. Determine financial feasibility of repairs or replacement for electronic system components.
14. Maintain a clean, safe and well organized facility and work area.
15. Perform all other duties as assigned by the electronics supervisor.

Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work in tight or enclosed spaces; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travel
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; read, write, understand written and verbal instructions
Other Information: The district contributes $400/monthly to the cost of "employee-only" health insurance which is $175/monthly greater than the state required amount of $225/monthly.
