Spoelman Hovingh & Feldt Inc., a CPA firm located in Coopersville, MI, provides a broad range of accounting services to businesses and individuals.

Due to continued growth, we’re seeking an experienced tax preparer to join our team for the upcoming tax season. This is a seasonal position with flexible scheduling (full-time or part-time). This job will also include some administrative work.

As a Tax Preparer, you will work directly with individuals and small businesses to prepare and file federal and state tax returns. This role is ideal for professionals who are already familiar with tax regulations and software and are looking to apply their expertise in a seasonal capacity. This is an in-person role. Please do not apply if you aren't able to work in person at our office.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and file individual and small business federal and state tax returns (Form 1040 and applicable schedules; knowledge of 1120, 1065, or 1041 a plus)
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain client confidentiality
• Communicate with clients to gather information and explain tax concepts in a clear, professional manner
• Assist with E-filing and other administrative duties, as needed

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2+ years of recent experience preparing individual tax returns
• Strong working knowledge of federal and state tax codes
• Proficiency with tax preparation software
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Availability to work extended hours during peak season (especially evenings and Saturdays mornings, if needed. No Saturday afternoon's or Sunday hours)
