REPORTS TO: Lead Designer
SUPERVISES: CAD Drafters, Designer I-II
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: \n - Responsible for 2D and 3D drawing development.
\n - Checking drawings created by CAD Drafters and Designer I-II
\n - Works with Production Management, cross-functional design teams internal and external to the company, including business partner representatives, customer representatives and equipment manufacturers.
\n
\n
QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE: \n - High School Diploma or equivalent required.
\n - Associates Degree or higher in CAD preferred.
\n - 4 years minimum of 3D modeling experience
\n - 5 to 10 years of shipyard design or production/construction experience or equivalent experience.
\n - Experience in construction of high speed aluminum vessels preferred
\n - Experience with modular construction methods preferred
\n - Experience in design and construction of US Navy vessels preferred
\n
\n \n - Excellent written and oral communication skills.
\n - Understanding of scheduling and an ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
\n - Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office products.
\n - Experienced in interacting with multiple design teams and members of production.
\n - Experience using 2D and 3D AutoCAD
\n - Basic draw and modify commands
\n - Layer types
\n - Line types
\n - Dimensions
\n - Unit of measure
\n - Creating orthographic views from isometric drawings
\n - 3D modeling commands
\n - Creating 3D models from orthographic views or vendor furnished information
\n - Able to interface with models from other disciplines using the XREF command
\n - Able to model in 3D model space without interferences
\n
\n \n - Experience with ShipConstructor preferred.
\n - Possess a thorough understanding of vessel design in two or more of following areas:
\n - Equipment
\n - Electrical
\n - Fitout
\n - Foundations
\n - Hull
\n - HVAC
\n - Material
\n - Pipe
\n - Product Hierarchy
\n - Structure
\n
\n \n - Able to interpret system schematics, structural key plans, compartment arrangements, and electrical diagrams to create 3D CAD models.

\n - No felony convictions of Theft/Deception or Violent crimes within seven years from disposition date

TOOLS: Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, ShipConstructor, Navisworks
DIRECTION EXERCISED: \n - May lead the work of CAD Drafters and Designer I-II
\n - May review technical adequacy of drawings and provide direction as to corrections or adjustments to meet customer requirements.
\n - May train CAD Drafters and Designers I-III according to established standards and procedures.
\n

DISCRETION EXERCISED: - May provide input to evaluations of CAD Drafters and Designer I-II
\n
LIAISES WITH: - CAD Drafters, Designers, Engineers, Production Personnel, Program Management, and Equipment Suppliers
\n

The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud, + 90 dB.
