RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1.1 Performs diversified duties to operate boilers and auxiliary equipment to control the generation of a continuous supply of steam for heating the hospital and outlying buildings and to fulfill the requirements of various departments. 2. RESPONSIBILITIES/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 2.1 Works with other trades assigned to perform work at the boiler house. 3. SAFETY 3.1 Assure the safety of patients, staff and visitors through enforcement of department safety policies and procedures. 3.2 Adheres to safety requirements when performing job using the following safety equipment: Safety Eye glasses, Face Shields, Ear Plugs or Mufflers, Dust Mask, Surgical Mask, Gowns, Boots, Gloves, Back supports. 4. ADDITIONAL TASKS 4.1 Performs any additional assignments as required by the manager/supervisor. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma. Experience: Minimum five years trade experience. Licenses: Must possess a State of Connecticut Operating Engineers OE2 License. Must have a current driver’s license and an acceptable driving record. Special Skills: Ability to read blueprints and specifications. Familiar with all plant operation guidelines and codes. Demonstrated knowledge of position in order to train and direct staff. Strong oral and written communication skills. Physical Demand Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include distance, peripheral, depth and the ability to adjust focus. Physical activities include standing, walking, using hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking or hearing, tasting or smelling. Must withstand the following environmental conditions: outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold, high precarious places, electrical shock, radiation exposure, bloodborne pathogens, flammable or explosive gases, toxic or caustic chemicals, dust or irritants, grease or oils, infection from disease‑bearing specimens, infectious or contagious diseases, cleaning agents or chemicals, hot or noisy equipment, humid or wet conditions.
