Job Title: Mississippi Teacher of the Visually Impaired (Virtual)

A rewarding opportunity awaits for a dedicated and skilled Mississippi Teacher of the Visually Impaired to support a dynamic middle school student in a virtual setting. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of a completely blind 7th or 8th-grade student.
  • Utilize innovative teaching methods and assistive technologies to facilitate engaging and effective learning experiences.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies to promote academic growth.
  • Collaborate with parents, school staff, and relevant professionals to ensure a comprehensive support system is in place.
  • Provide training and resources to encourage the students independence in using braille and other learning tools.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to educational standards and regulations for visually impaired students.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Mississippi teaching license in Special Education or equivalent.
  • Certification or specialization in Teaching Visually Impaired Students.
  • Proficiency in braille; experience working with blind students is essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students and families effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to use virtual teaching platforms and assistive technologies.
