Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Opportunity for a Teacher for the Visually Impaired at an elementary school in Asheville, NC, offering a contract position for the uping school year. This role involves providing specialized instruction to support a kindergarten student with visual impairments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering tailored educational sessions to a kindergarten student in a 1:1 setting
  • Conducting four 90-minute sessions per week focused on visual impairment acmodations
  • Collaborating with a dedicated 1:1 assistant to maximize student support
  • Utilizing Spanish language skills to municate effectively in a fully Spanish environment
  • Managing 6 hours of direct instructional time and 2 hours of indirect instructional planning and collaboration

Desired qualifications and experience:

  • Certification or demonstrated experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Proficiency in Spanish, both spoken and written
  • Experience working with early elementary or kindergarten-aged children
  • Ability to develop individualized educational plans and implement specialized teaching methods
  • Strong munication and teamwork skills for coordinating with assistants and other educators
