POSITION SUMMARY:

The Social Media Intern will support NMDP's social media team in the implementation of our brand presence across primary social media channels. The Social Media Intern will have a keen focus on proactive and reactive community management and social listening, and will also engage in conversations across secondary channels. This role will support in monitoring, engaging and understanding NMDP's online communities, ensuring we maintain a pulse on trending topics, audience sentiments and potential areas of brand engagement. With guidance from the social media team, the Social Media Intern will also assist with content creation to enhance our brand narrative.

This role consists of community management, social listening, content creation, copywriting and cross-functional relationship building.

• Community management and social listening: Engage proactively and reactively with conversations happening across social media channels, identify conversation trends to participate in, provide timely responses to audience feedback and share findings in team meetings.

• Content creation: Under the guidance of social media team members, assist in generating creative content tailored for specific platforms, leveraging tools like TikTok's video creation platform and Canva templates.

• Copywriting: Under the guidance of social media team members, develop brand-consistent language for posts intended to engage full spectrum of B2C and B2B audiences.

• Cross-functional relationship building: Join social media team meetings to proactively identify opportunities where organic social media could increase audience-specific reach and drive action.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

This role works cross-functionally to support the social media team's strategy and objectives by:

• Familiarizing oneself with NMDP's social platforms and strategy.

• Working within the larger social media strategy, ensuring consistent messaging and branding across channels.

• Understanding how NMDP's brand voice adapts to each social channel, while ensuring the brand remains recognizable.

• Assisting in the daily execution of proactive and reactive community management, as well as social listening.

• Supporting in tracking the performance of proactive community management.

• Participating actively in team meetings and brainstorming sessions.

• Adhering to NMDP's confidentiality policies for patient, donor and proprietary information.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

• An active user with a basic understanding of major social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Twitter/X, YouTube, Bluesky and Reddit.

• Basic familiarity with video editing tools within platforms like TikTok.

Ability to:

• Communicate effectively.

• Adapt and learn in a fast-paced environment.

• Collaborate harmoniously with a diverse team.

• Demonstrate desire to develop innovative social media content that resonates with our target audiences.

• Show sensitivity when communicating with various audiences.

• Proactively identify opportunities for connecting with target audiences.

• Demonstrate accountability for responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience:

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, marketing, journalism, mass communication or a related field.

• Previous coursework or internship experience related to social media.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Additional qualifications that may make a person even more effective in the role, but are not required for consideration)

• Proficiency with content creation tools like Canva.

• Experience or familiarity with social media analytics.

• Interest in or taking coursework related to health care.
