About the Role:

The Continuous Improvement Manager will serve as the key leader for continuous improvement and operational excellence efforts at our Pine Bluff Paper Mill . This person will lead a team of five direct reports and act as a strategic resource to drive cost reductions, quality improvements, and overall performance.

This role will rotate through different production meetings, collaborating with cross-functional teams, analyzing processes and data, and coaching engineers and frontline teams. Its a highly visible position for someone who thrives on driving impactful change, mentoring talent, and building a Lean culture throughout the site.

What Youre Going to Do:

  • Champion safety and environmental compliance, embedding safety in all improvement activities.
  • Lead and coordinate multiple continuous improvement (CI) and deliberate improvement (DI) initiatives across mill operations.
  • Mentor, train, and guide the development of Process Engineers and other team members in Lean Six Sigma tools and methodologies.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, and mentoring of future engineers and interns joining the site.
  • Act as a key resource in cross-departmental production meetings, helping teams interpret data, identify improvement opportunities, and implement sustainable changes.
  • Oversee CI and cost-reduction projects with focus on metrics.
  • Coordinate capital improvement initiatives, partnering with engineering and maintenance for implementation.
  • Support trial coordination with converting facilities across the U.S.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of Lean Six Sigma training for all levels of the mill workforce.
  • Foster strong relationships with leadership to drive cultural and operational change.

What We Expect from You:

  • Bachelors degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering , or Paper Science required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a manufacturing or process engineering environment, ideally within the paper industry .
  • Proven experience leading CI initiatives and applying Lean Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt or Black Belt preferred).
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to use tools such as Excel and Minitab for process and performance analysis.
  • Experience coaching or managing teams, with ability to inspire and develop early-career professionals.
  • Strong communication and leadership presence to influence across departments and functions.
  • Experience managing or supporting capital projects and leading trials is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
